Saikhom Mirabai Chanu is an Indian woman weightlifter. Saikhom is an under 48 kg weightlifter. She was born on 8 August 1994 in Imphal East, Manipur, India.

According to the year 2018, she is just 23 years old and she earns huge success in the field of weightlifting. Saikhom Mirabai Chanu regularly participated in the 48 kg category weightlifting since 2014.
Chanu has won the World Championships in 48 kg category and also won multiple medals at the Commonwealth Games.
She achieved a bunch of awards at her early age. She won the gold medal at World Weightlifting Championships held in Anaheim, United States. She also had won the silver medal in the women’s 48 kg weight category Commonwealth Games, Glasgow in 2014.
Saikhom Mirabai Chanu also appeared in 2016 Rio Olympics and she qualified in the women’s 48 kg category. But She failed to finish the event. She failed in clean and jerk section in all three attempts.
Saikhom Mirabai Chanu won the first gold medal for India in Commonwealth Games 2018.
One of the biggest awards of his life, Chanu was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2018.
She also got a cash prize of 2 million rupees by the Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh.
